My Spain: A Visual Memoir of Art, Architecture and Culture
The Society of the Four Arts
In a well-traveled life, Dr. Lipton has stayed in Spain the most. She started out there in her undergraduate days each summer to perfect her Spanish and returned years later for weeks at a time for her doctoral dissertation in Spanish art history. She accompanied her high school students of Spanish many times. She introduced her husband, daughter, parents, aunt, and good friends to her favorite place. Now she wants to share her enthusiasm and insights into Spain’s culture, architecture and art with current and new Four Arts audiences.
In fully illustrated talks, she will traverse the country by region, emphasizing in each the geography of its unique cities and towns, its painters, sculptors and architects, its customs, its music and dance, its literature and its famous historical figures.
You will gain an appreciation of the many aspects of Spain, more a continent than a country.
Please note, this course is an encore of Dr. Lipton’s morning session of “MY Spain” from the 2016-2017 season.
