Scott Jeffries: Soul Doodles

Through Monday, March 19
Boca Raton Public Library

The Boca Raton Public Library is pleased to present a new art exhibit, “Soul Doodles.” These abstract paintings are anchored in the sometimes comedic but always earnest reality of artist Scott Jeffries. He was named one of the ten best visual artists in Palm Beach County by New Times Broward-Palm Beach.

After years of practicing law in Philadelphia, Jeffries moved to Boca Raton to pursue his true passion as an artist. As he developed his technique, his abstract tendency became more pronounced: trees transformed into wisps of color; bodies simplified into shapes; fish turned into loud, neon personalities; faces, just splashes of primary color. Ultimately, Jeffries’ painting is an irreverent expression of his sub-conscious, an invitation into his brain where space and form are imagined from a decidedly different angle.

“One of the wonderful paradoxes of Jeffries’ art is that the most familiar forms are at once accessible yet elusive,” notes Neil Schulhoff, Program Services. “They capture the essence of an image without fixating on details, and beckon us using broad swaths of color to share in their elegant and untroubled emotions.”
