Leave No Trace Guided Loxahatchee Paddle

The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, a national member-driven organization that teaches children and adults how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly, is bringing their award- winning Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainer program to the Indian River Lagoon Aquatic Preserves this winter! The Indian River Lagoon Aquatic Preserves, which includes the Loxahatchee River, have been nominated as a 2017 Leave No Trace Hot Spot. Hot Spots are multi-day events designed to help members of the community learn Leave No Trace principles and to help preserve and protect our wildlands for generations to come.

Come join Jonathan Dickinson State Park and the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers, Steph Whatton and Andy Mossey, on a two hour guided paddle through the Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River.

A sampling of what you will learn during this paddle:

Interesting skills to minimize your impacts when you’re in the great outdoors.

The best methods to interact with other visitors/wildlife, and overall take care of the places you like to spend time outdoors.

How to help others develop a sense of environmental stewardship.

How to get more involved with the national education program.

Quick tips to use and share Leave No Trace at home, at work and in your community.

Kayaks can be rented through the park’s concessionaire.
