A Personal View on High Fashion & Street Style: Photographs from the Nicola Erni Collection, 1930s to Now
Norton Museum of Art
While fashion photography was created for editorial and commercial projects, street style photography emerged as a candid approach to capturing everyday people. High Fashion & Street Style includes more than 250 photographs and examines the synergies that run through these photographic genres with works by renowned photographers, including Amy Arbus, Richard Avedon, Harry Callahan, Esther Haase, Anthony Hernandez, Horst P. Horst, Vivian Maier, Tyler Mitchell, Irving Penn, Cindy Sherman, Albert Watson, and Garry Winogrand, among others. Making its public debut, the exhibition explores the holdings of Nicola Erni who has built one of the most important collections of fashion and street photography. It includes rare vintage prints, large-format photographs, and original collages, along with portraits of era-defining models and designers that shaped our view of beauty and style from the 1930s to today.
