Science Meets Music
The Benjamin School (Upper)
Presented by Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience
Ingenuity and dedication: essential elements for both Science and Art. MPFI’s annual Science Meets Music series seeks to celebrate these intertwined disciplines by showcasing visionary neuroscientists and their ground-breaking discoveries as well as enlightening performances by talented South Florida musicians.
Incoming Max Planck Society president Dr. Patrick Cramer will speak on January 18, accompanied by a string trio from the Palm Beach Symphony. On March 15, MPFI’s own Hidehiko Inagaki will talk about his research into movement and decision-making, along with musical guests Jordan Anderson on cello and Ryohei Yasuda on piano. The musicians are also neuroscience researchers; Anderson is a student in MPFI’s postbaccalaureate program, and Yasuda is one of MPFI’s scientific directors. Finally, on April 5, Daniela Sammler of the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics will discuss her research on music and learning, along with pianist Patricia Izbicki, also a neuroscientist by training.
Science Meets Music takes place at the Benjamin Upper School, 4875 Grandiflora Circle, Palm Beach Gardens, Fl 33418. There is no charge to attend, but advance registration is required and can be made at https://www.mpfi.org/smm-registration/. Doors open at 6 p.m. The program begins at 6:15.
